Job Description Messer Construction Co., a $650 million year revenue construction firm has an exciting opportunity for a skilled mechanical & plumbing cost consultant in our Cost Planning & Estimating department. In this position, you work with Senior Estimators and Executives within our 8 regions to provide guidance and expertise in an effort to support our Project Development efforts. The person in this position has the opportunity of growing and advancing into a Leadership role within the organization. Specific responsibilities are as follows: § Provide preconstruction design/conceptual estimate services to existing, new and perspective business partners. § Prepare quantity surveys, cost analysis, and milestone schedules. § Create conceptual, schematic design, design development and construction document budgets using digital computer software. § Provide value analysis, life cycle costing and constructability design review for MEP on various complex commercial projects. § Review, explain, and/or present estimate summaries to owners and designers. § Explore and create new innovative processes and technologies for continuous improvements to the Cost Planning & Estimating department including BIM (Building Information Modeling). For consideration, candidates should possess the following: § Strong estimating background in commercial mechanical and plumbing systems including equipment, sheet metal, piping, controls, fixtures and insulation. § Thorough knowledge of complex commercial construction and MEP systems. § Experience in conceptualizing and estimating costs for commercial construction projects ranging from $100,000 - $150,000,000. § Complete understanding of design documents, construction cost, constructability, and schedule implications of design choices. § Knowledge of sustainable design and green construction including LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). § Knowledge of Sage Timberline software, On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Office, Excel and Word. § Must be effective in leadership, oral and written communication, planning, problem solving, organization and coaching. § Ability to understand how projects support the Messer goals of safety, cost, schedule, quality and customer satisfaction. § Ability to work in a fast-paced environment working on multiple diverse projects at one time. § Bachelor or Associate of Science degree is preferred.
